HOW TO DE-STRESS YOUR SKIN

HOW TO DE-STRESS YOUR SKIN
DE-STRESS YOUR SKIN

Have you ever had some say you look tired? Or after a day of worrying your head, you get called pale looking? These questions come up quickly when we are stressed. Our bodies have different ways of handling stress. Our skin is a reflection of whatever we are experiencing as humans. It shows on the skin when we are either physically, mentally or emotionally stressed. The term “stress pimples” are as accurate as they sound. When we are stressed, our acne and other skin conditions tend to flare up. The excessive production of cortisol in the body is a result of stress.

Most times, we blame the reaction on our skin on the skincare products we use. Half the time, the main culprit for the rashes and redness we experience on our skin is stress. The effects on the skin are never the same. The best way to know when your skin is stressed is by checking if you are stressed.

The three types of stress your skin reacts to are:

-Physical stress, i.e. unhealthy dieting, injuries etc

-Environmental stress, i.e. from exposure to the sun or other air pollutants

-Mental stress, i.e. stress from work, life etc

The following tips are good for de-stressing your skin.

#Tip 1 Beauty Sleep Essentials: Tips for Healthier Skin Overnight

The aim of getting your beauty sleep is to restore and maintain your skin. You need to spend fewer hours in front of the screen. Set the alarm on your phone to help you go to bed early and wake up feeling better. Find what helps you sleep better (ensure it is a healthy choice) and go for it. Tossing around in the bed for hours will only cause more damage to your mental and physical health. If getting better sleep means changing your mattress or getting softer bedsheets, do it.

Always remember to wash your bedsheets and change your bedsheet at least once a week. Sleeping on dirty bedsheets causes acne and other skin diseases. Turn off the lights while sleeping. Either listen to white noise while sleeping or no noise at all. Make your sleep part of your skincare therapy.

#Tip 2 Combat Stress and Enhance Skin: Exfoliation Tips for Relaxation

When we are stressed, the skin produces a little more cortisol than usual. The pores on our skin become clogged, and this can lead to acne and other skin conditions. You need to exfoliate the skin at least two times a week. Use the oat flour for better exfoliation. If you need time off, fill your bathtub with lukewarm water, put in some oat and soak yourself in. While taking this relaxing bath, you are equally feeding your skin and de-stressing it. Your skin will be smoother and softer after exfoliating.

#Tip 3 Use a face mask to relax

A glass of red wine and the charcoal face mask is the best way to de-stress your skin. When we are stressed, the skin is very sensitive and responds efficiently to the products used. Use any of our face masks, leave to sit in on the face for about 5 minutes while you either read a book or just rest your head. Wash off with lukewarm water, and always remember to moisturise.

#Tip 4 Sunscreens are perfect for you

The sun stresses the skin out, which is one of the leading causes of wrinkles and inflammations. The redness you see on your skin after a long day under the sun can be prevented using sunscreen. Always make sure your sunscreen is made of natural products to prevent damages. If you are unsure of the sunscreen to use, you can always protect your skin with shea butter or any other body butter from us.

#Tip 5 Consistency and Patience: Keys to Achieving Skin Care Success

Be consistent with your morning and nighttime routines. You should also be compatible with your dieting and how often you take water. When you are gentle with your skin, it is easier to see results. Imagine having to wear about ten jackets in a short while to find which fits ;thats what it feels like when you keep trying products on your skin without taking a break or being patient.
