Clearing a blackhead on the chin can be frustrating. The chin is a part of the face that we ignore but is prone to producing excess. Chin blackheads are the reason we haven’t achieved glowing skin yet. The chin is in line with the T-zone; therefore, it is a spot for whiteheads and blackheads. It is safe to note that you don’t have to visit the hospital or a doctor to get rid of chin blackheads. This article has been curated to serve as a guide for you to get rid of chin blackheads in the comfort of your home.

What is a blackhead?

The black color of the acne known as the blackhead does not mean your skin has come in contact. Blackheads are a type of acne that happens when a pore on the skin is clogged by excess oil. The clogged skin can either cause whitehead or blackhead, but it turns black when the pore reacts with air. Blackheads can also occur due to dead skin cells and bacteria on the skin. Blackheads can appear on the chin and other parts of the face.

Causes of blackhead on the chin

The cause of chin blackhead is similar to what causes acne. When there are blocked follicles on the skin, blackheads appear. These are the reasons why chin blackheads appear on our faces.

1.       Hormones:  These are the primary cause of blackheads on the chin. Hormones cause acne, which forms on the lower part of the face and is mainly visible around the jawline. When our hormone levels are heightened, it spikes the production of oil (sebum production) and androgen in the male body. During adolescence, there is a higher androgen production, which also leads to blackheads on the chin.

2.       Clogged hair: When there are clogged hair follicles on the face, dead skin cells and sebum production begin to happen. The excessive production of the oil will clog the dead skin cell, and this causes the appearance of a blackhead on the chin.

3.       Friction: Our face comes in contact with different things daily. Friction plays a role in the appearance of blackheads on the chin, mainly if you use bike helmets, face masks, or constantly place your hand on your chin. The chin gets contaminated by the germs on our hands and can cause inflamed bacteria; this is why we are advised not to touch our faces.

4.       Stress: When the body’s stress level increases, the production of oil heightens, leading to a blackhead on the chin.

The primary cause of blackheads on the chin is excessive production of the oil. If recently you notice blackheads on your skin, these are the best way to get rid of them naturally.

Remove your makeup

Even when you have had a stressful day, try to clean your makeup with shea butter. It helps to keep your skin unclogged and smooth. When you wear makeup to sleep, it traps sebum and bacteria. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Avoid using wipes to get rid of your makeup; they contain fragrance and cause friction on your skin. To wipe off makeup properly, use shea butter and a cotton pad.

Exfoliate regularly

Exfoliating helps to get rid of dead skin cells. One of the significant reasons for the appearance of blackheads on the chin is dead skin cells. Depending on your skin type, you should exfoliate twice a week. The human body sheds skin every 28 days, and it is safe to exfoliate at least five times a month. Sometimes, over-exfoliating worsens the appearance of dead skin cells; use a gentle scrub to exfoliate. We advise you to use kaolin clay as it contains bentonite, which is perfect for treating blackheads and getting rid of dead skin cells. Always remember to wash off with warm water and moisturize your skin to reduce excessive oil production.

Expose your skin to steam

When you visit a spa to get rid of blackheads, they steam your face to make the process easy. One of the reasons people avoid steaming their faces at home is because it is done wrongly. Steaming your face makes it easy for when you decide to extract blackheads. Boil a bowl of water and when it is warm enough, put it in a bowl and bend over it with a towel around your head. Steaming your face opens the pores and makes it easier for you to remove blackheads.

Eat your vitamins

One of the fastest ways to get rid of blackheads is by treating them from the inside. Eat food rich in vitamins, and you can also take vitamin supplements; vitamin C is a strong antioxidant, and it prevents acne.

You can also use clay masks to clear up dirt from the skin and help prevent blackheads. Be patient with your journey and share these tips with someone.
